When booking an appointment, you will be asked a series of questions in confidence by our patient services team. This is to ensure that you get the best help in the right way. It might mean in some cases that you’re given advice to manage your own symptoms or even directed to another service such as your local pharmacy. We want to reassure you that our team have received extensive training to manage your request and work with systems that have been designed by the doctors right here at the surgery.

If you need treatment or advice, you can book an appointment in advance online using eConsult, you can also telephone the surgery and we will offer you a telephone consultation that is best tailored for your needs. If your request is medically urgent, we will offer you an appointment on the same day. This might be with the doctor, emergency care practitioner, pharmacist, physiotherapist, nurse or in one of the extended access appointments we have access to around the locality where appropriate. As you can see the more information you give our patient service team on the phone or through the online services, the better placed our team is to offer you the best appointment.

We can only treat one person in each appointment. If another family member needs to be seen, they should make a separate appointment (although you can bring friends or family along to your appointment for support). We can only deal with one problem in our appointments and if you feel you need to discuss more than one issue, please tell the patient service team when you speak to them so that they can do their best to help you.

If you are too ill to come to the surgery, we will arrange a home visit if appropriate. When the surgery is closed, we will provide details of how to contact the out-of-hours service.

If you re unable to attend your appointment, please let us know so we can offer this to another patient.

In return, we ask you to:

  • Only discuss one condition in your appointment. Consultation time is limited.
  • Be honest, clear and concise when describing your condition. Transparency on both sides will help us to give you a correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
  • Ensure you clearly understand the advice you are given.
  •  It may help to ask the following four simple questions:
